My name is Andrew and I live in Adelaide, South Australia. I have had an interest in information technology since high school and in my final year of school I developed an interest in graphic design and website devlopment. I then wanted to pursue my interest in IT, design and websites at university so I studied and graduated from a Bachelor of Information Technology (Computing and Multimedia).
I learnt a wide range of topics in my four year university degree including databases, networking, information systems, project management, filming/editing video, graphic/web design, web development and a wide range of programming languages (XHTML, CSS, PHP, XML, Java, Javascript, Actionscript). In my final year of university I completed a final year project which involved the development of a website using the WordPress Content Management System (CMS) which also involved a lot of project management. The project simulated a real life situation where all of the requirements had to be met for the client and where proper project and risk management had to be completed. There is a link to a picture of the website on the portfolio page.
I have also studied part time at TAFE for a Certificate 4 in Small Business Management to help me manage my freelance business. I completed and passed four subjects as part of the certificate but did not continue as I gained full time employment at a company called CentricMinds.
My position at CentricMinds was Web Producer & Support Engineer from May 2010 until March 2011 and this role involved:
- XHTML and CSS template development for the CentricMinds and WordPress Content Management Systems.
- Testing these website templates in different web browsers.
- Checking if these website templates were World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) accessible.
- Writing, running and reviewing test plans for new CentricMinds product enhancements.
- Managing their support site by actioning and reviewing support requests lodged by customers.
The areas that I am most interested in and want to pursue are the graphic/web design and web development areas. I enjoy being creative with my design skills and developing websites so I decided to set up my own freelancing business to gain more experience. I have a passion for website design and development and like creating websites which are visually appealing, compatible with multiple browsers and are also W3C accessible.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife, my four children, socialising with friends, watching movies, listening to music, reading and learning about digital marketing. A big part of my life is also being involved in church activities and studying the Bible because of my Christian faith.
I hope you enjoy looking through my portfolio website; don’t hesitate to contact me for a free quote so that I may be able to meet your web and design needs.
History of MWD
Morton Web & Design officially started business in December of 2009 after much thought of what the business should be called. It was originally called Direct Simple Design in the early designs of the logo. There were many designs created for the logo and I experimented a lot with the different designs. After a while I finally found a design that I liked best and that was received positively by other people. The logo designs originally had an orange colour to them which is my favourite colour and that is why orange is featured so prominently on this website. The font chosen for my logo is called JUICE and was created by Dhany Arliyanti from Indonesia. I asked her permission to use this font commercially for my business and she was happy to let me do so.
